The thrilling story of England’s descent into civil war
We are delighted that the historian of the seventeenth century, Jonathan Healey, is returning to talk about his new study of the start of the civil war.
His book is called The Blood in Winter: A Nation Descends, 1642 and has been very well reviewed.
Figures with local connections who feature in the story are William Lenthall, Speaker of the House of Commons, Archbishop William Laud, and Bulstrode Whitlock of Fawley Court.
